2015 Home Trends to Be Excited About

There’s a lot to look forward to in 2015. We’ll see a total lunar eclipse, mobile roaming charges will be abolished in the EU and, of course, there will be new trends hitting home décor. While not everybody will love all of these dress-up-the-home ideas, there is at least one 2015 home trend for every person to be excited about. Here are some of the crazes you’ll see in the next year:

home trends 2015

Paint with Marsala

Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year is … marsala! Incorporate this darker red-wine shade by painting a single wall, using draperies or buying pillows of this color. You can also find some beautiful marsala sofas, loveseats and recliners. Be careful, though; because this is a darker color, you don’t want to overdo it. Using too much of it, or not pairing it evenly with warmer tones like golden yellow, will bring a gloomy feel to your space. So while this color is hot on the 2015 list, use it with caution.

Put the Spotlight on Dining Chairs

2015 is the year of the mismatched dining room chairs. Use different patterns, different structures and different colors. Make sure you vary within the same color scheme, however, to avoid being too over-the-top. You want to make it as interesting as possible without letting it look like an accident.

If mismatching your chairs doesn’t interest you, you can still incorporate a 2015 trend in your kitchen or dining room. Make your chairs the focal point of the room by painting or reupholstering them in a steal-the-spotlight color.

Incorporate Hot Metals

Copper is trending in 2015. Now is the time to purchase copper accessories for your rooms – vases, frames or trinkets. Mix and match your copper extras with little things in other hot metals like brass and gold to bring an extra kick.

Use Guilford Green

Benjamin Moore has dubbed guilford green the color for 2015. This shade is much more neutral than marsala, and may be better fitted for those who want to bring the calm feeling of nature indoors. Using light tones like guilford green is one of many ways to make your small space look bigger in 2015, too.

Dress up a Single Wall

Bored with a room in your home? This 2015 trend is sure to please. Rather than buying something expensive to dress up your space, invest your time and efforts in a single wall. Choose one wall to give off the room’s energy, and get decorating. Paint the wall with a bold color, adorn the entire wall with pictures or choose a wallpaper that will go well with the room’s color scheme. Whatever you choose, make it pop.

Pay Attention to the Tub

Don’t forget about your bathroom in 2015 – it too deserves some trends. This year, the bathroom spotlight falls upon the tub. Rather than hide your tub in a corner of the bathroom, shielded with a gaudy curtain, bring your tub to the front and center. Use minimal décor and sharp color contrasts. Keep it simple.

With this highly variable list of home trends, you’re sure to find something to keep your house hip in 2015.
