Turn on the tap and water comes out. It seems pretty simple and is definitely something that most people take for granted.
But, have you ever considered how safe the drinking water is? It’s been through a treatment plant that is covered by government regulations but that doesn’t mean it’s as safe as you think!
The easiest way to find out how safe your water is and what is actually in it is to have an independent water test completed.
Before you dismiss this as unnecessary it’s important to understand what can go wrong with your water supply and how you can fix it.
The Risks With Drinking Water
Water becomes dirty as it travels through the rocks and soil to the reservoirs. It picks up debris, pollutants and bacteria.
To prevent these from coming down the pipes to your home the water is sent through a series of filters. These remove all sizes of debris.
The water is then treated to kill bacteria; chlorine is the most commonly used substance for this. In small doses chlorine will kill bacteria without appearing to harm human health.
However, more recent research suggests that chlorine could give you bad skin and respiratory issues; especially if you are already sensitive to it.
Alongside this there are several other chemicals that could cause health issues. These include lead, arsenic and fluoride.
You probably know arsenic is a poison but you may not know that lead s also a poison and can cause the shutdown of your organs. Lead is not easy to remove from your body; over time it can build u until it becomes an issue.
Fluoride has been praised as helping to prevent cavities and tooth decay. Unfortunately more recent research suggests that fluoride can cause development issues in children and may even contribute to your risk of cancer.
Further risks come from the age of the pipes that are used to bring the water to your home. It only takes the smallest of holes for bacteria and other pollutants to enter the water supply after it’s left the treatment works.
The water company may not pick up on the issue and are unlikely to see it as the pipes are buried and cannot be visually inspected easily.
Best Way To Ensure Your Drinking water Is Safe
All of this should tell you that you need to have your water tested. However, testing only confirms the water is safe at that moment in time. It may be different later the same day!
That’s why you need to speak to a company such as Filtap and choose either an under counter filter or a whole house system. This will remove the debris for you and any bacteria. It also removes chemicals and actually improves the taste of your water!
Testing your water quality is a great idea but to have peace of mind and ensure your drinking water is safe you need to invest in a water filter.
Thanks for finally writing about >Is your drinking water safe?
Here’s how you can find out <Loved it!
Hello, i believe that i saw you visited my site so i got here to ?return the

Very descriptive article, I loved that bit. Will there be a ppart 2?
Chlorine, with high content, can be harmful to the human body. Just mentioned, there are other contaminants like lead, mercury, iron, fluoride, and more which could be twice as harmful. So I personally recommend a whole house water filtration system to ensure sufficient removal of the targeted toxins.
