Affordability

aluminum-fenceAluminum fencing is much less expensive than the more traditional wrought iron option. This is mainly due to the fact that wrought iron fencing has to be fabricated with much more costly metals when compared to aluminum fences. This affordability makes them a much more appealing option for a number of projects.

Rust Free

Unlike iron, aluminum will not rust. This is due to the fact that aluminum is not considered a ferric metal, which means that it will not oxidize or rust.  In fact, it has been estimated that it takes aluminum up to 10,000 years to fully disintegrate.

Minimum Maintenance

Unlike the wrought iron fencing options that are available, aluminum does not have to be painted every few years. During the manufacturing process, aluminum fencing will receive a number of protective coats, which include a powder paint coating, which lasts for an extended period of time without having to be repainted.

Aesthetics

While aluminum fencing is used for a number of practical purposes, such as security and containment, another appealing factor is that this type of fencing is also aesthetically appealing. When you use black aluminum fencing, it will complement almost any landscape and available for purchase in a variety of different styles.

Security

When you consider the other popular types of fencing option, such as wood and chain link, there are a number of security risks present. For example, wood fences are able to be easily scaled and chain link fencing can be cut. However, when you choose to install aluminum fencing that features spear topped pickets, it will be much harder to breach, keeping would-be-intruders at bay.

Rackable

The majority of quality aluminum fences are considered rackable, which means that they are able to adjust to the slope of your land. If you install a fence that is not rackable, then it will likely leave unsightly holes and gaps at the base of the fence when the land slopes up or down.

With this information you can clearly see the benefits offered by installing an aluminum fence on your property. This option is affordable, durable and provides superior aesthetic appeal.

  1. My husband is currently trying to decide what type of fence to install around his business. He has been considering getting a wooden fence, because he likes the look of it. However, after reading this post, I think that a wooden fence wouldn’t be so good for security purposes as compared to an aluminum fence. I also think that he will like the idea that an aluminum fence will require minimum maintenance and allow his company to focus more on their actual work rather than the fence.

  2. That may sound great but aluminum is too lightweight. While that may be considered a bonus in its own right, how about wind resistance?

  3. There are different pros and cons to all types of fencing. You need to weigh them out, do your research and decide which is best for you. Great info, thanks for sharing!

  4. I actually didn’t know that aluminum won’t rust. I feel like I should have known that. I’m always a fan of minimum maintenance, because I always forget about projects like that. I also think security is an important factor, especially in dangerous areas. Thanks for the info.

  8. This is some great information, and I appreciate your point that aluminum fencing doesn’t rust. My husband and I just moved into a new house, and we want to enclose our yard to keep our dogs in. This area gets a lot of rain, and I worry about rust being a problem, so we’ll definitely look into using aluminum so we don’t have to worry about it. Thanks for the great post!

  9. Hello great article , I have idea but want someone to suggest me, is there any way to make metal fence on myself at home? Is it very expensive?

  10. Ya, we may say that wood fencing is classic, wrought iron is hot stuff but still neither one is comparable with aluminum. An aluminum fence can be used to enclose a residential or an industrial space because it is strong, reliable and requires a very less maintenance. It can be adjusted to fit the landscape. It is affordable and environmental friendly. Apart from these it has already mentioned in your blog that an aluminum fence is never going to be rusted which perhaps I think the best advantage of using an aluminum fence. So, on a overall basis it is always good to use aluminum fence rather using wood or wrought iron.

  11. I had no idea that aluminum wouldn’t rust in a fence. According to the article, aluminum is estimated to take 10,000 years to fully disintegrate! My wife and I have been looking for an affordable fence, but we want one that will last a long time. It seems like an aluminum fence would be a good option since it fits both of those criteria.

  14. I am totally convinced and converted now. I am going to use and suggest aluminum for fencing. Yeah, at home we have a number of structures and things made of aluminum and now I’ve come to realize that indeed aluminum is multipurpose. We used it for the jalousie frames and even for our plates rack. But to really test its strength and endurance, I would like to see it made into fence. Thanks for this article.
